About us

Mojo Media was born out of pure flippen frustration.
We know, that is a weird thing to say as an opening line, but it is true.

For years we had been designing and developing online brands which stopped at the clients website. We’d design them a really stunning logo, whole corporate identity and then build their website. Once the website was complete, we’d send our invoice and the project was “complete”.

More and more, our clients came back to us shaking their heads,

“But what now? Where are the clients?”

"I’ve spent all this money on branding and they are not coming!"

We didn’t know what to do.

Our clients then got suckered into contracts with other companies that could supply them SEO (stands for search engine optimization - means optimizing your website in such a way that the google gods could display your website at the “top”), but they only factored in one component of the strategy we use today on our clients businesses, Traffic.

Frustrated they would call us saying that they don’t know what to do, they have traffic coming to their site but nothing was happening. There is no point sending a load of traffic to your website with nothing for them to do.

To be honest it was pissing us off too.

We knew there had to be another way. Today we thank those dodgy SEO companies because they filled in the first step of our strategy today, the starting block.

Things were changing fast and we knew if we wanted to stay in business AND expand we needed to up our game and build our clients a business that actually generated income for them, like real money… else what the heck is the whole point then of being online?!!

What the heck is “online marketing”?
It is a big vague concept, am I right?!

Enter the world of online marketing.

Online marketing is a big concept but one worth paying for because you are targeting your visitors right where they are at, ONLINE. Gone are the days of printing bumper stickers and flyers hoping some clients would come from it.

We take a holistic approach to building our clients online businesses. Holistic, not an airy faerie term, we take the business elements apart and look at the whole marketing picture
of your business.

We look at your product, how you are targeting your visitors, where you are sending them to, how they are buying from you and how you are nurturing them so they become repeat customers and refer you, your product and services.

We focus on

Your font color or logo design is not as important as the first 3 aspects, that is why we focus on it in that order. Your pretty logo is not worth much if people aren’t buying from you.

We have a plan!

So it’s not a question of, ‘Do you need a plan? Yes, you do!

and only then focus on the

or do you want me and my team
to build it for you?

Do you want to build this plan yourself,

I’m so ready, can we get started?!

Ok ok, so we know about Mojo, but who is Lily & Nix?

Meeting each other was certainly fate, but that is a story for another day.

Questions

Lily Hattingh

I was born an entrepreneur. I was always the one rebelling about my work hours. I couldn’t understand why I had to clock in at 8 and could only leave at 5 if my work was done earlier, I work hard and smart.

My last j.o.b was awesome though, they let me work from home and also allowed me to freelance. That was really the springboard I needed to get my own business up and running… and the rest they say is history… (in the making!).

I didn’t know I needed to wait another 10 years to meet Nix, but it was all worth it!

Favorite part of the job?

Each place I’ve traveled to has a certain special place in my heart so it is hard to choose, but if I had to, reeeeally had to, I’d probably say Florence, Tuscany. I traveled there with my partner, we just had a blast, all the places we walked, all the special street signs art that we spotted. The magical sunset we viewed of Ponte Vecchio was just a moment of pure contentment and I just felt so in love. The experience is imprinted in my body cells forever.

Favorite work tool?

Trello. Damn, how did I ever run my business without it?! Can’t even begin to imagine.
Oh and I love me a good ol spready. Google sheets is my go to.

Favorite destination travelled to?

Well I don’t see what I do as a job. It’s my life really. I love that we work from home, everything is digital, we work from anywhere in the world really. I’ve had meetings with clients from my Airbnb in Hamburg, Germany to in their office meetings, Johannesburg, South Africa. I love that there is freedom in my work.

I also looove helping my clients get their business up and running and off the ground. I love turning their ideas into a real paying business. I get to create clients businesses. That means I get to create many businesses, not boring and never a dull moment.

Questions

Nice to meet you! I’m Nix!
Generally I’m a quiet home body, you could say that I’m an introvert, until you get to know me you’ll see that that is not the case.

I love learning new things, reading about the new algorithms and testing them out. On weekends I also teach Sunday school, I love creating a safe space for my students to share what is happening in their life and just being someone who listens to them intently.

I also enjoy hanging out with my (super hot, tattooed and bearded drummer/ architect - did I mention he is hot!) boyfriend listening to good music, sharing moments with friends, we also enjoy working on our projects together.
